Unusual XSites
Have you ever driven a car, and the speedometer was in the center, the radio under the seat, and the steering wheel on the other side, plus there's an extra pedal, and the cup holder is out of reach? That's a unique, but inefficient design. Some things about web sites look the same for a reason, whether they're XSites, or nearly any other kind of business web site. Most sites:
are rectangles: because it helps visitors organize information in a familiar format - the page, and because computer screens are rectangles.
- have top navigation and/or side navigation: because visitors need a simple way to find the information they need, and most computer programs have a top menu and a side bar.
- have your company name at the top: or close to it - where else would you hide it?.
- have certain key pages of information: home page, about us, contact us, faq, etc. That's because a high percentage of clients won't make a decision if they can't find the information they need to do so.
There are good reasons for providing a cockpit that any visitor can just jump in and drive. So what can you do to stand out in the crowd? The answer is simple:
Design
Design is the application of creativity, intuition, and use into your end product. You use the principles of design in your own work, and respect them. So do we, and we'd like to make your XSite both different and useful -- familiar enough that, like a German-engineered sports car, you can get in and just drive, yet sleek or personal enough that there's no mistaking it for its competition.
